The winner of five (!) MAC Awards as Outstanding Jazz Vocalist, Thos Shipley is one of the most exciting performers around. The New York Post called him "Awesomely talented . . . the chops to sing with the best of them, and the innate presence to become a star!" Variety described him as "Smooth, mellow, velvet-rich, playful." And Harper's Bazaar wrote "A link in the line of charismatic performers from Nat Cole to Al Jarreau to Luther Vandross. Vocals--ultrasuede; scat--undulating; funk--sleek."
Joining Shipley will be three of the best jazz musicians in New York. A Harvardwood favorite (and a Full Member), bassist Jerome Harris '73 has played and recorded with Sonny Rollins, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Frisell, and many more, appearing on more than 50 recordings. Keyboardist David Budway ("Daring, inventive"--Jazz Times) has performed with Stanley Turrentine, Regina Carter, Clark Terry, George Benson, and Dizzy Gillespie. Drummer Emedin Rivera has played with Harry Belafonte, Gregory Hines, Pacquito De Rivera, Chuck Mangione, and Latoya Jackson.
And all of this in the stunning 1887 landmark surroundings of the beautiful and friendly Down Town Association. What an irresistible way to spend a glorious summer evening!

Advance registration is required--no tickets will be sold at the door. Dress code is "business casual"--jackets (but not ties) required for men; no denim, sneakers, etc.
Or you can take the #4 or #5 train to the Wall Street station. Walk three blocks east on Wall Street to William Street. Turn left on William Street and walk one block to Pine. Then turn right on Pine Street. 60 Pine Street is on the left. (It's simpler than it sounds!)
